Women groups under the auspices of Women Gather have declared that Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, is their last hope for women inclusion in politics in the state.

Coordinator of the group, Ambassador Onyi Mamah, stated this while briefing journalists yesterday in Enugu.

She noted that recently they had an engagement with the governor during the Reserved Seat bill , adding that out of the five Southeast governors, Mbah was the most supportive.

She described the governor as a very disciplined and encouraging person that supports women inclusion and the 35 affirmative action.

The human rights activist however, pointed out that as women, nobody will wear the shoe more than them, adding that women understands poverty, and pains.

She further described Mbah as a man that understands gender advocacy and therefore stressed that the governor remains their last option as far as 35 per cent affirmative action is concerned.

Mamah expressed dissatisfaction that since 1999, they have not recorded very prominent women position.

She expressed dissatisfaction that only two women are presently occupying positions in the state house of assembly, saying that if they had proper alignment of the 35 percent affirmative action, they should be taking about over seven women in the state house of assembly.
