Man City Stumble In Title Chase As Forest Snatch Late Draw

Manchester City’s Premier League title aspirations suffered a significant blow as relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest twice came from behind to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

The dropped points leave City seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal, although they do hold a game in hand.

Antoine Semenyo’s opener put City ahead, only for Morgan Gibbs-White to equalize for Forest. Rodri’s header restored City’s lead, but Elliot Anderson’s superb late strike ensured a share of the spoils for the visitors.

The result is a crucial one for Forest, who remain outside the bottom three on goal difference, and provides a much-needed boost for new manager Vitor Pereira.

Meanwhile, City manager Pep Guardiola will lament his side’s inability to control the game in the second half, a recurring issue this season.

The match was a back-and-forth affair, with City initially dominating possession. Semenyo eventually broke the deadlock with a well-taken volley. However, Forest capitalized on a defensive lapse in the second half, with Gibbs-White’s instinctive backheel leveling the score.

Rodri’s powerful header from a corner seemed to put City back on track, but Anderson’s brilliant curling effort from outside the box in the 76th minute stunned the home crowd. The drama continued until the final whistle, with Ryan Yates almost snatching a winner for Forest and City being denied a late goal in a goalmouth scramble.
