The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Neda Imasuen, has affirmed that his performance in his first term will secure him his party’s nomination for another term in the Senate.
The lawmaker also rejected speculations that he intends to withdraw from the race for a second term, describing such claims as baseless and the product of political mischief.
In a statement released on Thursday by his media aide, Moshood Karim, the senator clarified that he remains fully committed to seeking re-election in order to build on the progress already made for the people of Edo South.
According to the statement, rumours circulating in some quarters were deliberately spread to mislead the public and create uncertainty about the senator’s political ambitions.
The media office highlighted that Imasuen’s first term has been characterised by strong participation in legislative debates, sponsorship of bills, and sustained advocacy for the interests of Edo South at the National Assembly.
It also emphasised that maintaining continuity in representation is vital for securing more development and strengthening the district’s influence at the federal level.
The statement further noted that after spending his first term gaining deeper insight into parliamentary processes and legislative procedures, the senator is now better equipped to deliver greater benefits to his constituents.
“With a clear understanding of the legislative process, Senator Imasuen is now in a stronger position to push for more projects and champion democratic gains that will benefit Edo South,” the statement said.
The media office added that re-electing the senator would position him to rise within the Senate’s leadership structure, which could enhance his influence in national policymaking and improve his ability to attract federal projects to the district.
It urged the public to ignore the rumours, insisting they were politically motivated and without merit.
The statement concluded that Senator Imasuen remains focused on strengthening representation for Edo South and advancing development opportunities for the district.
