Comrade Philip Shaibu, Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), inspected key facilities in Jos, Plateau State, ahead of the launch of the North Central Zonal Centre in April.
Accompanied by Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashoms, Shaibu assessed the readiness of the center following the official handover of operational documents to the state government.
Shaibu expressed satisfaction with the infrastructure, emphasizing its importance for the NIS’s establishment in the region. He announced that physiotherapy and paramedics programs would be included in the curriculum to address gaps in sports science and medical support.
Ashoms hailed the NIS’s presence in Plateau as historic, highlighting its potential to enhance coaching skills and sports administration within the state. The North Central Zonal Centre is set to commence academic activities in April, marking a significant step in the revitalization of the Institute under Shaibu’s leadership.
