Nigeria, India Strengthen Economic Ties To Boost Logistics Sector

The need to strengthen economic ties to boost logistic sectors in partnership between Nigeria and India on Thursday took centre stage at the ongoing 2026 India Trade Expo, third edition, taking place in Lagos Island.

In his address, President Bola Tinubu, represented by his Special Adviser on Economic Affairs, Dr. Tope Fasua, charged the Indian business owners to intensify efforts in fast tracking the already established relationship.

Harping on the need to “Strengthen Investment Flows Between India and Nigeria, he reiterated his call based on what he called ability of Indians to win the challenges confronting Nigerians with movement of business.

Commenting on challenges and ease of doing business in Nigeria,  which has continued  to face the economy from investors perspective, Fasua  said the need to embark more on technological advancement between the two countries as technical advancement is vastly dominating the market spaces saying it should be further sustained.

With the theme “Unlocking Opportunities, Enhancing Partnerships”, the Expo aims to create a powerful platform for business networking, strategic collaborations, and market expansion, Fashua stressed that “As our economy is  growing faster, we should use this  opportunity to learn from Indians who have remained with us amidst hard  economy even though many other nationals and their businesses have shut down, but the resiliency and  belief in Nigeria of India companies have kept them to stay in the country.”

Other leaders of the trade mission, President of Indian Professional Forum, Mr. Mahesh Birla, Director of Finance and Operations, Lagos Free Zone, Mr. Ashish Khemka, in unanimous decision called for more improvements between Nigeria and India.

According to them,  “Logistics management between Nigeria organized business with the High Commission of India Expo brought together leading Indian companies and professionals across diverse sectors including,  pharmaceuticals healthcare, defense, infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing, IT, Technology, Agro commodities, automobiles  service industry,  they agreed  that as India businesses have continued to weathered  the storm, this 2026 expo will further bring more cooperation.’’
