The former senator representing Plateau North, has declared his intention to return to the Senate in 2027 under the platform of the APC, pledging to prioritise security reforms, constitutional amendments and community resilience if elected.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP-Sunday in Jos yesterday, Gyang who also reflected on his years in public service from the Plateau State civil service to the House of Representatives and the Senate, described his previous tenure as one marked by efforts to address security challenges, economic hardship and diversity management in Plateau North Senatorial District.

He said leadership remains critical to national progress, stressing that a nation rises or falls on leadership. He noted that politics remains the legitimate platform for recruiting leaders and urged citizens not to shy away from active participation in governance.

Speaking on concerns over insecurity in Plateau North, the former lawmaker emphasised that the primary responsibility of government, as enshrined in the constitution, is the security and welfare of citizens.

He advocated for constitutional alteration to devolve more powers to states, particularly in the establishment of state police, adding that security challenges were best addressed at the local level rather than through a highly centralised command structure.
