A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has condemned the destruction of a ward secretariat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at Ubima community in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State.
Ubima is the home-town of prominent ADC leader and former minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi.
The incident occurred in the wee hours of Friday, just a few moments to Amaechi’s arrival at the ward to formally register with the ADC.
The hoodlums later on Friday mounted a roadblock along the Omuawa-Ubima road, preventing vehicles conveying ADC supporters or displaying party banners from entering the community.
Eze, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP Sunday in Port Harcourt yesterday, however, lauded Amaechi, who is also former Rivers State governor, for proceeding with his formal registration with the ADC despite the unfortunate incident.
The former publicity secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), described the action as dastardly, undemocratic, cowardly and an unfortunate trajectory that has permeated Nigeria’s political engagements.
The APC chieftain called on security agencies to ensure that those responsible for the actions which clearly set yet another bad precedent in our polity, are brought to justice.
