The Speaker Benue State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga, has called on his kinsmen to strengthen unity and collective resolve in confronting the security and developmental challenges facing the communities.
The speaker stated this at the weekend during the 2026 edition of the World Isherev Day 2026 held at RCM Primary School, Daudu,Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Emberga noted that the challenges confronting Isherev land, particularly security threats and slow infrastructural growth, require a coordinated effort from all sons and daughters of the community, regardless of political or social differences.
Chief press secretary to the speaker, Zape Michael Upaa, in a statement said Emberga while addressing the gathering of Isherev people described the occasion as a significant platform not only for preserving the rich cultural heritage but also for reflecting on the pressing issues affecting their communities.
The speaker urged the people of the area to continue supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening community development, peace, youth and women empowerment as well as grassroots stability and security.
According to speaker Emberga, “Unity remains the strongest instrument for overcoming insecurity, advancing development, and protecting the collective interests of the people.”
In his remarks, Benue State governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, who represented by his Principal Private Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Chenge, assured the people of his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure in the area, promising further construction of urban roads and other critical projects.
Alia said construction of NASME–Yogbo–Udei Road would soon commence describing it as one of the strategic projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and economic activities in the area.
Earlier in his address, president general of the Isherev People’s Assembly, Phil Tor Tikor, said insecurity arising from attacks by armed herders as well as the slow pace of economic growth despite the area’s abundant natural resources remain major concerns for the people.
