Lumos Laboratories Nigeria Limited has been shortlisted as a Top 3 Finalist for the Hydrogen Project Award at the 2026 Canadian Hydrogen Convention, marking a major milestone for the company and Nigeria’s presence in global energy innovation.

The company’s nomination comes in recognition of its pioneering project that converts waste into clean hydrogen, a development experts say could contribute significantly to the global energy transition.

Lumos Laboratories will compete against two other world-class firms, including HTEC and MAX Power Mining Corp., at the Awards Gala in Edmonton, Canada.

The Managing Director of Lumos Laboratories, Ejikeme Nwosu, expressed pride in the achievement, highlighting the importance of African contributions to science and technology in modern times.

“This recognition shows that Africa can compete globally in the field of science and innovation. With the right support, our potential is limitless,” the company Nwosu said.

Observers note that the development underscores Nigeria’s growing role in renewable energy solutions and innovation-driven enterprises, as the country seeks to diversify its energy mix and reduce environmental impact.
