Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has again imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following renewed violent attacks in parts of the council. The directive took immediate effect.

The development was disclosed on Monday in Yola by the governor’s chief press secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, in an official statement.

According to him, the decision followed fresh incidents of violence and a breakdown of law and order in some communities within the area, which reportedly resulted in the loss of lives.

Wonosikou said the governor described the disturbances as unacceptable and has ordered security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly to prevent further escalation.

“The directive followed renewed violence and breach of peace that reportedly claimed the lives of some residents in the affected communities,” the statement said.

He warned that anyone found violating the curfew order would face immediate arrest and prosecution in accordance with the law.

“Anyone or any group found in violation of the directive will be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the law,” Wonosikou said.

He added that the restriction would remain in force until further notice while security agencies work to restore calm.

“The curfew will remain in place until further notice,” he said.

The governor also directed security operatives to maintain law and order across the local government while ensuring strict compliance with the directive.

While appealing for calm, Fintiri urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and provide credible information that could help restore peace in the area.

“Government will not condone acts of violence and will take necessary measures to restore peace and order,” the governor said.

The governor further reassured residents of the state government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

A similar 24-hour curfew was imposed on December 8, 2025, following what authorities described as a fresh eruption of communal hostilities and attacks on the Bachama community in the area.
