Wife of the Delta State governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has said the state government wwould continue to prioritise and encourage education among children in the state.
Mrs Oborevwori stated this at the flag-off of the distribution of teaching and learning materials to public and special schools in the 25 local government areas of the state.
She urged the pupils to pay attention to their studies so that they can become leaders in the near future.
Organised by the State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission, (UBEC), Mrs Oborevwori maintained that the MORE Agenda of the Governor Oborevwori-led administration remained committed to advancing education at all levels in the state. She added that no society can achieve meaningful development without investing in the education of her citizenry.
The Governor’s wife expressed optimism that the distribution of teaching and learning materials to public primary schools as well as as Special Schools will in no small way have significant impact on learners.
She commended the SUBEB chairman, Hon. Samuel Mariere, his team, UBEC and other collaborating agencies, for their hard work in improving the education standard in Delta State while achieving the vision of the state government’s agenda in the education sector.
In his welcome address, chairman of SUBEB, Hon. Samuel Mariere disclosed that over 6,000 textbooks and notebooks and other teaching and learning materials are being distributed to public primary schools across the state in furtherance to the quality education vision of the Delta State government under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Mariere noted that the Delta SUBEB has enjoyed continuous support both from the state government and UBEC, placing the state at the top in the committee of states of the federation.
The SUBEB noss while commending the wife of the State Governor for her charitable works through the You Matter Foundation, said the distribution of the learning materials will no doubt produce positive results stressing that public schools in the state will continue to produce intelligent children who can compete with their counterparts both within and outside the country.
