Zamfara State Zakkat and Endowment Board is set to sponsor the wedding of 10 persons with disabilities (PWDs).

This was announced by the spokesman of the board, Malam Jamilu Sani Tsafe, in a statement he issued to journalists in Gusau.

He said the chairman of the board, Sheik Ahmed ibn Umar Kanoma, explained that the initiative, the first of its kind by the board, would only be beneficial to persons with special needs.

He said the initiative was also aimed at reducing hardship and bringing joy and dignity to persons with disabilities considering the current marriage expenses in the society.

According to him, the board has donated furniture items to the benefitting brides and provide N50,000 cash support to each groom for the consummation of marriage.

The chairman of the Zamfara State Board of Persons with Disabilities,  Usman Ahmed Nahuce, represented by his secretary, Dr Bilyaminu Umar Kaura Namoda, expressed gratitude for the initiative and concern for his members.
