Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Sunday, drafted traditional rulers in the state into the war against cultism as part of the strategies towards eliminating the challenges it poses to the economic growth of the state.

This is coming just as the governor emphatically declared that his administration would pull down whichever houses or buildings suspected to be harbouring members of the secret cult groups across the state.

Abiodun made the declaration while speaking at the year 2022 edition of Akesan Day which was held at Iperu-Remo in the Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

With particular mentioning of the recent secret cult related cases recorded in Iperu – Remo and its environs where several lives were lost and property worth several millions of Naira were destroyed, the governor tasked traditional rulers in the state to summon a town hall meeting where other chiefs, community leaders and the landlords will discuss and evolve ways of nipping the evil act of cultism in the bud.

The governor also urged parents to rein in their children, stressing that the government of the day would not condone any situation whereby few individuals would give the state a bad name.

Describing Ogun as one of the most peaceful state in the country, Abiodun stressed that such accounted for why investors have been trooping into Ogun to establish businesses and would not fold his arms and watch few individuals “who called themselves cultists; going about killing themselves and harassing innocent people, at the detriment of the state’s growth.

“I call on our royal father as our leader, to please call a town hall meeting and discuss this issue, because if I hear any more of this, I will pull down the house they live in. Our state is very peaceful and it will remain so”, Abiodun stated.
