All is set for the hosting of the 2026 edition of the African Iconic Women Recognition Awards (AIWRA), scheduled to be held in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The event aims to honour women across the continent who are breaking barriers, challenging long-standing norms and achieving outstanding success in their various professions and careers.

Organised by Fajag Concept, owners of Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN), the award seeks to recognise and celebrate exceptional women who have distinguished themselves in leadership, entrepreneurship, public service, innovation, advocacy, and other fields of endeavour.

Themed “Elevate at 15th,” the organisers said the 15th edition of AIWRA will bring together distinguished personalities, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and development advocates across Africa.

A statement issued by the Founder and Chairman of Fajag Concept, Olufunsho Ajagbonna, said the event will not only celebrate excellence but also deepen conversations around leadership, inclusion, and the transformative role of women in Africa’s development trajectory.

According to him, by spotlighting their achievements, the initiative hopes to amplify inspiring stories of resilience, innovation, and impact that can motivate younger generations of women to pursue leadership roles.

He listed this year’s awardees to include Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu; Namibia’s President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah; Ghana’s First Lady, Lordina Mahama; and the First Lady of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, among other distinguished women leaders across the continent.

Ajagbonna expressed confidence that the 2026 edition would surpass previous milestones, even as he lauded the management of Transcorp Hilton Abuja for its consistent partnership and professionalism especially for Abuja event organisers and entertainment industry at large.

He said the collaboration has significantly enhanced the quality and global appeal of the awards.
