After an initial win against Colombia and a subsequent loss to South Korea, D’Tigress entered the game seeking a strong response. The Philippines started strong, holding a narrow lead at halftime after winning both the first (26-21) and matching Nigeria in the second quarter.

However, the African champions turned the tide dramatically in the second half. Nigeria outscored the Philippines 34-21 in the third quarter to take control, before sealing the dominant victory with a 25-12 run in the final period.
