Troops Raid Bandits’ Camps, Rescue 9, Recover 90 Cows, Others In Kaduna

The Troops of Operation Forest Sanity have raided suspected bandits’ hideouts and rescued nine kidnapped persons during fighting patrols in Kaso, Chikun local government area of Kaduna State.

A security report obtained by the State Government said the troops engaged bandits on the Tantatu high ground as the bandits abandoned their camp and fled further into the forest.

A statement issued by the Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Monday, said the troops searched the camp and rescued nine kidnap victims identified as: Salama Oliver, Husseini Odu, Danjuma Jakanwa, Ezekiel Garba,Obadiah Moses, Taiwo Isaac, Buky Isaac, Ado Adamu, and Maigari Shekarau.

Aruwan revealed that the initial debriefing of the rescued victims revealed that they were all kidnapped around the Gurara Dam area.

He revealed that the nine rescued persons will undergo further debriefing and examination before being reunited with their families while fighting patrols will continue in the general area.

The statement further said the troops also recovered 90 cattle left behind by the fleeing bandits.

“The animals will be handed over to the Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Authority for proper identification,” he said.

Aruwan further added that clearance patrols to Bawa Rikasa Hill led to the recovery of four motorcycles belonging to the bandits.
