The Byazhin Ward chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has suspended its former chairmanship candidate, Hon. Josiah Musa Koche, over alleged anti-party activities during the recently concluded area council election.
The ward executive committee said the decision followed an executive meeting held on February 27, 2026, during which members reviewed reports from polling unit agents, supervisors, and party supporters regarding the candidate’s conduct during the election.
According to the ward executives, reports from party officials alleged that the candidate’s actions before and during the election undermined the party’s interests in the poll.
In a letter issued by the ward executives, the party alleged that reports from its field officials indicated that Koche compromised the party’s interest in the election.
“The report that got to us from the polling unit agents and supervisors, even some of our voters, shows that Hon. Josiah Musa Koche sold our mandate to the opposition party,” the ward executives stated.
They further alleged that the candidate’s conduct before and on the election day raised concerns among party members and undermined the party’s chances at the polls.
Earlier, the party’s Bwari Area Council Disciplinary Committee had summoned Koche to appear before it over allegations of anti-party activities, lack of accountability, causing division within the party and alleged fraudulent dealings with ADC members.
The notice, signed by the Bwari ADC chairman, Ameme Bartholomew Okoji, and the secretary, Igbojionu Nneoma Queenette, said the alleged actions were contrary to Article 22 (1–9) of the party’s constitution.
Subsequently, the ward executive committee said it resolved to expel the candidate from the party, citing allegations that he held unauthorised meetings, created disunity within the party and used party influence in ways that allegedly defrauded members.
The party added that the decision means Koche’s membership rights and privileges have been revoked and that he is no longer authorised to represent the party in any capacity.
Efforts to reach Koche for his reaction were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone went unanswered, and a message sent to him on WhatsApp had not been responded to as of the time of filing this report.
