A former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Dr. David Emmanuel Umbugadu, has promised to work towards strengthening support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.

Speaking during a meeting with thousands of women under the platform of Advocates for Justice, drawn from the 13 local government areas of the state, the estwhile opposition leader, said Tinubu has performed creditably well to deserve a second term.

He noted that part of his mission in the APC is to help consolidate grassroots support for President Tinubu and ensure victory for the party in future elections, while urging the women to join the movement.

“My decision to join the APC is a strategic move made in the interest of our people. I have been in the opposition for a long time and I believe this is the time to open a new chapter in my political career.

“My assignment in the APC is simple — to help deliver the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and support his re-election in 2027. We know the people are with us and they are in large numbers,” he averred.

The women, many of whom were part of the PDP structure during the 2023 governorship election, turned out in large numbers dressed in their traditional black attire bearing inscriptions of Advocates for Justice in Nasarawa State, to demonstrate solidarity with the former opposition figure.

He explained that after years in the opposition, it had become necessary for him to open a new chapter in his political journey by aligning with the ruling party in order to better serve the people of the state.

He stressed that the massive support he enjoys across the state was genuine and not driven by financial inducement.

“My supporters are organic. They are not here because of money but because of the passion they have for who we are and what we represent,” he declared.

He disclosed that once the APC registration portal is opened, his political structure would mobilise more than 300,000 new members into the ruling party across the state.

He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for what he described as exceeding expectations in the area of infrastructure development across the state.

He particularly applauded the governor for the construction of roads and flyovers across the senatorial zones, noting that the projects have significantly improved the state’s development outlook.

“Governor Abdullahi Sule has exceeded expectations in the area of infrastructure development. The construction of roads and flyovers across the zones of the state shows commitment to the progress of Nasarawa State,” he said.

He assured the governor of his support in achieving his developmental goals and pledged to work with stakeholders to deliver Nasarawa State for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Also speaking, the Women Leader of the group, Mrs. Hanatu, commended Ombugadu for his resilience and determination in the political arena.

She assured that the women would continue to mobilise support for both Ombugadu and President Tinubu in future elections.

“We admire his strength and resilience. As women, we will join hands with him and work for the success of President Tinubu and Dr. Ombugadu in the coming elections,” she said.
