American singer Ray J has threatened to call a key witness in his ongoing legal dispute with Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, over the release of a private video of the pair from 2007.
The development follows sworn declarations filed in a United States court by Kardashian and Jenner, in which both denied orchestrating the sale and distribution of the footage to Vivid Entertainment.
However, Ray J’s lead counsel, Howard King, has challenged the statements, alleging that the pair made false claims under oath.
According to King, the singer’s legal team is prepared to call Steve Hirsch, former chief executive of Vivid Entertainment, to testify on the circumstances surrounding the 2007 agreement.
King said Hirsch’s testimony could provide clarity on the role allegedly played by Jenner in the distribution deal.
“If they continue denying their involvement, we will call Hirsch himself. We want the truth of how that deal was struck to be part of the public record,” the legal team said.
The lawyer also warned that making false statements in sworn declarations could carry legal consequences.
He noted that such allegations could have implications for Kardashian, who has recently pursued legal studies and expressed interest in becoming a legal practitioner.
The dispute stems from a defamation lawsuit filed in October by Kardashian and Jenner against Ray J, who they accused of spreading false claims about the origins of the tape.
Ray J later filed a countersuit, arguing that the family violated a previous settlement agreement that allegedly bars all parties from publicly discussing the video.
While Kris Jenner has repeatedly denied allegations of her involvement as “absolutely false,” the dispute continues to spark debate over the circumstances surrounding the release of the footage.
As of the time of filing this report, representatives of the Kardashian-Jenner family had not issued further comments regarding the possibility of Hirsch being called as a witness.
