The public hearing, which took place at the assembly’s conference hall, was attended by both federal and state agencies, medical associations among other groups.

The chairman, House committee on Health, Hon. Kachalla Ajiya Maina, said the public hearing was part of measures towards ensuring that the two bills received the much-needed inputs for scrutiny before passage.

Maina assured all those who presented memos at the public hearing of the House’s readiness to do justice to the contributions, adding that the committee remained resolute towards formulating acceptable bills for adoption by the House.

Also, the Speaker, Hon Ahmed Lawan Mirwa, commended the committee for the public hearing, adding that the measure had clearly demonstrated their readiness towards giving accelerated hearing on the two bills

Mirwa, who spoke at length on the importance of the two bills, said when passed into law, it would enable the executive arm of government to ensure standard, qualitative health facilities as well as efficient emergency medical services to patients across the state.

“You know the public hearing is part of the legislative procedure before the bills are passed into law and we will leave no stone unturned towards working in line with the laid down laws governing the passage of any law.”

The Yobe State Ministry of Health, Nigeria Medical Association, Medical Lab Scientists, Community Health Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Pharmacy Council, World Health Organisation (WHO) and National Agency for Food Drugs and Administration Control among other presented memos during the public hearing.
