A total of 5,000 wrappers have been distributed to women and vulnerable groups in 20 local government areas of Bauchi State.

At the event held at the Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu Square, Government House, Bauchi yesterday, the wife of the governor, Dr Aisha Bala Mohammed, said the Sallah season serves as a reminder of the values of compassion, sacrifice, generosity, and solidarity.

She noted that the festive period encourages individuals to share what they have and extend kindness to others, particularly the less privileged in society.

Aisha Bala explained that the initiative was designed to bring smiles to many households and support women as they prepare to celebrate Sallah with dignity and joy.

She added that the distribution is part of ongoing efforts to promote the welfare of women and provide support to vulnerable groups across communities in the state.

The first lady urged beneficiaries, especially group leaders, to ensure fair, transparent, and accountable distribution of the items so that they reach those who truly need them.

She also called on residents to continue promoting peace, unity, and mutual understanding, encouraging them to use the Sallah period as an opportunity to show love and kindness to one another.

In their separate remarks, the State PDP Women Leader, Hajiya Hauwa Musa Fulani, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on NGOs and Donor Agencies, Hajiya Zainab A. D. Rufa’i, commended the first lady for her sustained support to women across the state.

They also stressed the importance of fairness and transparency in distributing the items at the community level.

Earlier, the state commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Dr. Lydia Haruna Tsanmani, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting vulnerable women and children, while appreciating Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for prioritising the welfare of the less privileged.
