Femi Fani-Kayode, Dele Momodu Trade Insults On Social Media

A fierce war of words has erupted on social media between the Nigerian ambassador-designate to Germany, Femi Fani-Kayode, and media entrepreneur Dele Momodu, with both men trading heavy accusations and personal attacks in a public spat that has drawn widespread attention.

The controversy began after Fani-Kayode launched a blistering attack on Momodu in a lengthy post, using strong language to question his credibility, past, and political relevance.

In one of the most striking remarks, he described Momodu as “a political prostitute and glutton of the ages,” alleging that his career had been defined by opportunism and a pattern of shifting allegiances.

Fani-Kayode further claimed that Momodu had, over the years, moved between influential political figures for personal gain, citing his past associations with key actors in Nigeria’s political space. He argued that such tendencies had undermined Momodu’s integrity, insisting that “everything about him eventually crashes,” including political ambitions and alliances.

Reacting swiftly, Momodu issued a detailed response, rejecting the allegations and turning the spotlight on Fani-Kayode’s own conduct.

In his rebuttal, he described the former minister as “an ambassador without decorum,” accusing him of lacking the temperament expected of a representative of Nigeria abroad.

Momodu also challenged Fani-Kayode’s narrative, alleging that, despite his public criticisms, Fani-Kayode had privately sought his support and favours. “As recently as February 11, 2026, he still begged me to help him publish on one of our platforms,” Momodu stated.

The Ovation publisher went further to question Fani-Kayode’s character, calling him “a bully” and “an incurable thug,” while recounting instances of what he described as erratic behaviour.

He argued that Fani-Kayode’s public persona was driven more by aggression than reason, raising concerns about his suitability for sensitive diplomatic responsibilities.

Momodu also alleged that Fani-Kayode’s political trajectory had been marked by frequent shifts in allegiance, including attempts to seek support from figures such as Atiku Abubakar.

According to him, this contradicted the image of loyalty that Fani-Kayode now projects in his defence of the current administration.

The exchange soon escalated into a broader confrontation, with both men referencing past relationships, private communications, and political encounters to discredit each other.

Fani-Kayode, in a follow-up response, insisted that Momodu’s criticisms were rooted in frustration and described him as “tired, worn and completely unhinged,” maintaining that his political influence had significantly diminished.

He also defended his loyalty to President Tinubu, noting that he had openly acknowledged past disagreements but had since aligned firmly with the current administration.

According to him, such consistency stands in contrast to what he described as Momodu’s “pattern of betrayal.”

On his part, Momodu maintained that his criticisms were based on principle, not personal interest, and accused Fani-Kayode of using political loyalty as a tool for relevance.

He further alleged that the former minister’s recent posture was influenced by his desire to remain in the good graces of the presidency.
