As the campaign for the governorship seat of Osun State slated for August 15, 2026, kicked off, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr Najeem Folasayo Salaam, has canvassed the entrenchment of politics without bitterness as a means of strengthening democracy in the country.

Salaam, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, in a release made available to newsmen in Osogbo, entitled “A New Politics. A Better Osun. A True Omoluwabi Movement”, reaffirmed his commitment to issue-based campaigns rather than insults, abuse, or demeaning opponents.

His words: “We can prosecute our campaign with passion without descending to recklessness. We can offer constructive criticism without demeaning others. We can win arguments and persuade minds without damaging the bond that unites us as a people”.

“Let us practice politics with maturity, civility, and pride and in doing so, demonstrate to Nigeria that leadership from Osun can be anchored on respect, unity and purpose rather than hostility and division”.

Meanwhile, his media team in a release debunked what they described as “a series of misleading and fabricated quotations currently being circulated by certain political opponents and falsely attributed to Hon Salaam”.

Salaam in the statement made available by the director general, Najeem Salaam Campaign team, Segun Olanibi in Osogbo said the quotations are entirely false, malicious, and deliberately crafted to tarnish the image of Dr Najeem Salaam, while also inflaming the already charged political atmosphere in Osun State.

He noted that the actions are not only deceptive but also a disservice to the peace and democratic values Osun State upholds and charged the people of the state to disregard the fabricated quotations and remain focused on the issues that truly matter to the development of our state.
