Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Friday, admonished Muslims faithfuls nit to deviate, but sustain the spirit of devotion, charity, prayers and good deeds exhibited during the holy month of Ramadan.

Abiodun stated this while congratulating all Muslims for the completion of Ramadan during the two rakat prayers at the Lantoro Eid ground, Abeokuta on Friday.

Represented by the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, the governor said the Muslim faithful should allow their charitable deeds to continue as ongoing acts of “Ibadah” rather than ending with the season.

“Prince Dapo Abiodun has asked me to extend his greetings to all of us . He has asked me to congratulate all Muslim faithfuls for the completion of Ramadan in good health and he wishes that we would continue to have peace in our state and of course Nigeria.

“He wishes us many more Ramadan in good health and he asked me to thank all, particularly our Imams and Alfas for their continuous support. He said I should let our Muslim brothers know that all the good deed you are doing during the Ramadan must not end now. It is something that we must continue and we pray that all our prayers, may Almighty Allah accept it as an act of ibadah.”

The governor also urged Muslims to maintain their resolve and to keep providing the assistance required to guarantee the development and advancement of society as a whole.

“He also asked me to thank every Muslim brothers and sisters that are here today for their support within the last seven years and he enjoins them to continue to give me that necessary support so that at the end of the day we would land at the promise land,” the commissioner added.

In his own goodwill message, former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Ishola, noted that although the Ramadan has gone, Nigerians should uphold the values learned during the holy month.

“It should be a lesson for us, a lesson of sacrifice, patience, obedience to the course of Almighty God and all these are values.

“Ramadan may have gone but these values still remain, so whatever religion we practice we should remain a good adherent of our religion particularly the Muslims they should continue to observe the fundamental principles of Islam.”

Ishola also prayed for the peace and prosperity of Nigeria, expressing the hope that the nation would continue to attain greater heights.

“Most of all I pray that our nation will continue to prosper and we would continue to attain greater height and also the president, Bola Tinubu, may God continue to guide him.”

Earlier in sermon, the chief Imam of Egbaland, Sheikh Sa’addallah Bamigbola exhorted people of all religions to continue being devoted and sincere followers of their faiths.

Sheikh Bamigbola highlighted that the faithful must make sure that the teachings of obedience, love, forgiveness, and humility are upheld in their day-to-day existence.
