Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has declared support for the reform agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the economic blueprint of Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, as he intensified consultations with stakeholders ahead of his re-election bid.

The lawmaker, representing Cross River North Senatorial District, made the call during separate meetings with members of the Obudu Traditional Rulers Council and leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Obudu Local Government Area.

Addressing stakeholders, Jarigbe urged residents to support the policies of the Tinubu administration and the programmes of Governor Otu, describing them as critical to improving the living standards of the people.

In a statement made available to LEADERSHIP, he described Governor Otu as a grassroots leader committed to transforming the economic fortunes of the state.

Jarigbe had earlier met with APC stakeholders and members of the Obanliku Traditional Rulers Council, where he formally declared his intention to seek re-election and solicited continued support, cooperation and prayers.

He said his re-election bid should be based on his performance rather than regional affiliation, stressing his commitment to attracting more Federal Government presence to drive grassroots development in the zone.

“We are here to interface with you. The good thing is that, after the last election, we did not wait until the next election before we are coming again. We have been coming and we have been working,” he said.

The senator commended the people of Obudu for their support and what he described as their unbiased posture, noting that he secured victory in five wards in the last election despite contesting against an indigene of the area.

He also described himself as a proud affiliate of Obudu, recalling that he received his early education at St. Charles Primary School and built longstanding relationships in the community.

Jarigbe further recalled his role in advocating for a governorship shift to the northern part of the state, which eventually produced a governor from Obudu, noting that his support contributed to the emergence and re-election of the Obudu-born governor.

Appealing for continued support, he urged stakeholders to back his 2027 re-election bid based on his performance and commitment to improving the welfare of the people.

In their separate remarks, the Paramount Ruler, the Local Government Chairman and the APC Chapter Chairman in Obudu commended the senator for his impactful representation and developmental projects across the senatorial district.

They highlighted projects such as the Amukwong Bridge in Alege/Ubang, Igwo Road, Betukwel Road and various town hall projects, and pledged continued support for his re-election.

Similarly, stakeholders in Obanliku Local Government Area, including the Executive Chairman, the Paramount Ruler and the APC Chapter Chairman, commended the senator for attracting infrastructural projects and human capital development initiatives, as well as his consistent engagement with constituents.

They also pledged their continued support for his leadership.
