Super Eagles’ star striker, Victor Osimhen, has asserted that he was always destined for success and financial prosperity, irrespective of his illustrious football career.
Speaking during a recent livestream with Cater Efe, the Galatasaray forward revealed his deep-seated belief in his inherent drive and work ethic from a young age.
“The sheer grit and determination I showed coming up from the ‘trenches’ meant that even if football hadn’t worked out, I would have still amassed significant wealth,” Osimhen explained. “I was incredibly focused, industrious, and passionate. I undertook numerous manual jobs and never shied away from any legitimate opportunity to earn money.”
Osimhen pinpointed his pivotal moment as his loan move to Belgian club Charleroi from VfL Wolfsburg in 2018. He recounted facing initial rejections in Belgium, stating, “I was turned down by two clubs in Belgium. With only three days left in the transfer window, Charleroi stepped in and made it happen. That was the crucial turning point.”
When pressed by Carter Efe on whether he surpasses Afrobeats stars Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido in wealth, Osimhen opted not to comment directly. However, he lauded the musicians for their exceptional role as cultural ambassadors for Nigeria on the international stage.
“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido on several occasions. They are instrumental in projecting a positive image of our nation globally,” he remarked. “It’s a source of immense pride to hear Nigerian music in clubs overseas. Nigeria is blessed with an abundance of talented artists. Many Nigerians at home don’t fully grasp the value of our artists because they haven’t travelled abroad, but those of us who have experienced it firsthand know the incredible work they do for the country.”
