How Nancy Umeh Is Helping Parents Understand Why Their Children Select Food

Parenting could be very challenging, and as if that is not demanding enough, to have a child who does not eat certain food can be very worrying and sometimes frustrating.

 

Some parents do not understand why this happens, and they conclude on so many things that are unfounded and untrue. Parents who are not ready to address the issue, or find out why it is so, end up raising adults who are picky about food.

 

However,  this is one area Nancy Umeh, a registered nurse, public health consultant, a professional chef and mother-of-two, is providing free expert advice to parents. All her professional qualifications are well articulated to help people eat and live well.

 

Nancy Umeh, who makes a lot of videos and shares healthy family recipe on Youtube and other social media platforms, graduated with a Masters of Science Degree in Public Health from the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom in 2013.

 

The health consultant was also awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, first class honours from the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom in 2012.

 

Nancy Umeh graduated top of her class at the School of Nursing, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where she acquired her associate degree in Nursing in 2009. Before then, she had her primary and secondary education also in Lagos.

 

Highlighting reasons why some children are picky on her Instagram handle nancyumeh_ the always enthusiastic health expert came up with 10 points in a recent video she posted on her Instagram handle.

As an authority in her field, Nancy Umeh raised the alarm that parents should be aware children are likely to refuse certain food from 18 months to five years. She also said it could be as a result of genetic, which could be due to bitter, sweet/fat sensitivity.

 

According to Nancy Umeh, the situation could also be attributed to a medical conditions known as Reflax, constipation, etc. She further advised that children can refuse certain foods due to deficiencies in zinc, iron or vitamin D.

 

Nancy Umeh also pointed out that it could be a result of if the child does not get adequate sleep, which she said could affect the appetite  hormones.
