Ambode Hails Tinubu’s Bold Economic Reforms, Visionary Leadership

A former governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection bid and also lauded the administration’s bold economic reforms and visionary leadership.

Ambode, who spoke at the weekend during a special prayer session in Lagos to celebrate Tinubu’s 74th birthday, organised by The Mandate Movement and hosted by the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, described Tinubu as a statesman of rare courage and foresight.

According to Ambode, interventions such as the removal of the fuel subsidy, unification of the exchange rate, and other strategic economic measures—though initially uncomfortable —have started to stabilise the nation and restore confidence in Nigeria’s economic trajectory.

“A lot of people fail to appreciate the intricacies of governance,” Ambode said, adding, “It takes vision, courage, and unflinching determination to make the tough decisions that secure the nation’s future. President Tinubu has demonstrated all of these in abundance.”

The former governor emphasised that the current economic stability is not by accident but by design, reflecting careful planning, deep wisdom, and a commitment to reversing the mistakes of previous administrations.

He called on Nigerians to recognise the President’s achievements and support his continuity, stressing that the path to prosperity demands patience and unity.

Ambode further prayed for divine guidance and strength for President Tinubu to continue implementing reforms that uplift the lives of ordinary Nigerians. “The trajectory is clear,” he said. “With sustained leadership, Nigeria is poised for a future of growth, stability, and renewed hope for every citizen.”

The prayer session drew prominent figures from Lagos politics and governance, including Dr Seyi Bamigbade, Director-General of Tinubu-Ambode Support Group; Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku; members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC); civil servants; local government executives; and key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The attendees remarked that the event was more than a birthday celebration, saying it was a resounding endorsement of Tinubu’s reformist agenda and a clarion call for all Nigerians to support a leader committed to building a strong, stable, and prosperous nation.
