Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has resolved to formally arraign former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, after weeks of detention .
In a statement issued on Monday , the Commission disclosed that El-Rufai will be arraigned before the Federal High Court in Kaduna on March 24, alongside one Joel Adoga, on charges bordering on alleged conversion and possession of public property, as well as money laundering.
The ICPC further revealed that it has filed a separate suit before the Kaduna State High Court involving El-Rufai and another defendant, Amadu Sule.
The charges in that case include abuse of office, fraud, and acts allegedly aimed at conferring undue advantage.
According to the Commission, both cases were instituted on March 18, with the former governor already served, while a date for the state court arraignment is expected to be fixed by the court.
The delay in filing charges had been linked to ongoing legal tussles, including multiple suits and objections raised by El-Rufai’s legal team.
