The Kano State Government has unveiled plans to restore 10 public parks across the metropolis within the next two months as part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability and improve public recreation.

The Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dahir Hashim, disclosed this on Monday after supervising ongoing park projects in the state capital.

Hashim said the initiative, driven by the administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf under its “Green Mandate,” is aimed at reclaiming and transforming public spaces previously converted to commercial use into functional green areas and modern playgrounds.

He revealed that four major park sites currently under development had been recovered by the state government and are being redesigned to serve children and families.

According to him, the government is committed to providing residents with safe, serene and accessible recreational facilities, noting that the projects are progressing steadily.

The commissioner expressed optimism that all 10 parks would be completed before the forthcoming Eid al-Adha celebration, in line with the administration’s urban renewal agenda.

Hashim, who spoke while marking the Eid al-Fitr celebration, reiterated the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and public welfare.

He assured that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change would sustain close monitoring of the projects to ensure quality delivery and timely completion.
