Abductors Of Kwara Church Worshippers Demand N1bn Ransom

The abductors of eight worshippers at the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) Church, Omugo, via Oro- Ago in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State have demanded N1billion ransom from the people of Oro- Ago community.

 

The armed bandits attacked the church during last Sunday service and abducted eight worshippers.

 

A source told LEADERSHIP that the abductors contacted the community on Wednesday, demanding N1billion ransom before the victims could be released.

 

He said the N1million offered by the community was turned down by the abductors who insisted that all the communities in Oro- Ago axis should contribute the N1billion ransom they demanded.

The pastor of ECWA Church, Omole Timothy, whose wife was among the abductees confirmed that the abductors have contacted the Church, demanding for N1billion ransom.

 

He said the abductors warned them against trying to beat down the sum and time wasting.

 

Omole said he was allowed to speak briefly with his wife.

 

The reaction of the security agencies and the state government could not be obtained as at the time of filing this report.
