The Abuja Police Command has detained four suspects for allegedly defrauding a retired military officer of N150 million by impersonating the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Mr. Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday. He said one of the suspects, residing at Martin Elegoma Street, Kurudu, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly defrauding retired Maj.-Gen. A.K. Ibrahim and others over land transactions at Guzape II Cadastral Zone, Abuja.
According to Olayinka, the suspect lured victims into believing he worked with the FCT minister and the Director of Land in the FCT Administration. He reportedly collected over N150 million under the pretense of delivering land documents for Plot 1985 at Guzape II, measuring three hectares, and other plots.
During interrogation, the suspect named two accomplices from the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA) and another individual at Chief Palace Road, Durumi 2, Abuja.
“The four suspects are currently under investigation,” Olayinka said.
