The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention Coordination Committee Secretariat (NCCCS) has reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and credible process ahead of the party’s national convention and the 2027 general elections.

Chairman of the committee, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, who is also the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, made this known during a meeting held on Thursday in Abuja. He was represented by the committee’s Assistant Secretary and Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo.

Fagbemi stated that the party is strengthening its preparations for 2027 through the establishment of multiple committees aimed at ensuring a rule-based and hitch-free convention.

At the core of the effort, he said, is a high-level legal committee mandated to ensure full compliance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act, the APC constitution, and guidelines issued by the electoral body.

He explained that additional committees have been set up to handle legal frameworks, dispute resolution, documentation, and the drafting of necessary instruments to guide the convention and its aftermath.

To promote inclusivity, Fagbemi noted that the party also constituted a committee to engage aspirants and explore consensus-building strategies that would strengthen unity within the party.

According to him, the legal committee comprises prominent figures, including former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, senior advocates, academicians, and other legal experts. He added that reports from the various committees have been received and the NCCCS is set to begin full implementation.

Fagbemi emphasised that the APC remains committed to democratic principles, respect for the rule of law, and fairness in all its processes, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s governance philosophy.

He further described the party as inclusive and open to all Nigerians, regardless of background, noting that its growing strength is anchored on unity and broad participation.

Reaffirming the party’s readiness, he said the APC is building a formidable structure capable of addressing internal concerns while positioning itself to support the administration’s goal of delivering a prosperous Nigeria.
