The FirstBank Women Network said it extended its International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026 activities to correctional centres across Nigeria to provide support and mentorship to female inmates as part of efforts to promote inclusion and compassion.

According to the bank, the initiative, carried out under the IWD 2026 theme “Give to Gain,” saw members of the network visit selected correctional facilities to engage women and girls, offering encouragement and reminding them of their value in society.
The bank said the outreach also aligned with FirstBank’s SPARK programme, a platform designed to promote acts of kindness and charitable interventions targeted at underprivileged groups.

In Lagos, the network visited the Kirikiri Female Correctional Centre and the Special Correctional Centre for Girls, Idi-Araba, where it organised mentorship sessions and distributed support materials to inmates.

Officials of the network said the visits were aimed at reaching vulnerable groups who are often overlooked, particularly those in correctional facilities, and to ensure they are included in broader celebrations of women.
They noted that the gesture reflects FirstBank’s continued commitment to supporting women across different segments of society beyond formal and corporate environments.
