Wike Confirms Talks With Mohammed, Others, Insists PDP Convention Holds

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Friday said he and his allies are in talks with the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, and other stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but insisted that the party’s convention must still go on.

Wike made the disclosure while speaking with journalists during a project inspection, where he addressed concerns over recent efforts to resolve tensions within the opposition party.

According to the former Rivers State governor, several party stakeholders have made moves to engage him and members of his camp.

Confirming one of those engagements, Wike said he had personally met with Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.

“They have tried to reach us. I have met with them, I met with Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed. We have discussed, but I have told them that the convention will have to go on,” Wike said.

Although Wike did not give full details of the discussions held with Bala Mohammed and other party figures, his comments suggest that consultations are actively ongoing among influential blocs within the party.

The PDP has in recent months been grappling with recurring internal disagreements, leadership tensions, and competing interests among major stakeholders.
