A new controversy has arisen ahead of Senegal’s planned trophy parade in France, as Moroccan lawyers have issued a legal warning regarding the display of a disputed trophy during the ceremony.

Reports indicate that two formal notices have been sent to the Stade de France and event management company GL Events, both of whom are supporting the 28th March event organised by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF).

The legal correspondence from the Moroccan party clarifies that showcasing a trophy they claim rightfully belongs to Morocco could expose the organisers to legal ramifications under French law.

The lawyers contend that the public display of the silverware in question would constitute a breach of ownership rights, and have cautioned that legal proceedings could be initiated if the matter is not resolved before the event.

They further stated that, should the trophy still be presented during the parade, Moroccan authorities might seek immediate judicial intervention in France, potentially leading to the seizure of the trophy at the venue.
