The Sport Integrity Foundation (SIF) has praised the board and management of Nationwide League One (NLO) for their dedication to implementing safety protocols within Nigeria’s largest grassroots league.
SIF has closely monitored the professionalism and commitment displayed by the NLO, particularly regarding sporting integrity and safety measures, which they believe merit commendation.
Godwin Dele, Secretary of the SIF, remarked that the NLO has set a professional benchmark in the country that should be emulated by other league organisers. “We are very impressed with the NLO’s management of what is recognised as Nigeria’s largest league in terms of player and team participation. More importantly, the NLO has made safety protocols and integrity the cornerstone of its operations.
“One notable initiative is the month-long pre-competition medical assessment conducted at the start of the NLO season. Health and safety are critical aspects of sports organisation, and the NLO’s structured approach to this is commendable.
“Last season, we observed the league’s operations both on and off the pitch, ensuring that no team gained an unfair sporting advantage over others. Their commitment to safety and security, as well as their dedication to maintaining the overall integrity of the league, is highly praiseworthy,” Dele added.
He emphasised that the SIF will continue to monitor and collaborate with sporting organisations like the NLO that demonstrate a genuine commitment to sporting integrity and the development of Nigerian youth.
