Governorship candidates of Action People’s Party (APP) Mrs. Abiola Adeyemi and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) Mr. Adenipebi Adekunle in Lagos State have denied stepping down for the candidate of the of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olajide Adediran popularly known as in the forthcoming 2023 governorship election.
Debunking the impression that they have stepped down for Jandor, the two governorship candidates at a joint press conference held in Ikeja,Lagos said, they did not step down for the PDP candidate.
The two said they and the PDP candidate are members of CPP and the impression given to them when the group was formed was that it would create an avenue for them to interact and sell ideas and through the group it would be easier for them to have a consensus agreement, if there is the need for it.
They emphasised that their party APP,ZLP and the PDP are the only registered political parties in the group and others are deregistered political parties.
Adekunle said the PDP candidate sent for him, that there would be a meeting at his campaign office and members of the CPP would also be in attendance, but he was reluctant to attend and he opted for a neutral venue, so that he can attend the meeting.
“Jandor wanted to meet with me at his campaign office, initially I refused, but later I changed my mind, I agreed to go later, in company of the APP candidate. He wanted me to be part of the press briefing to be addressed by the CPP chairman, but I turned the request down.”
