The Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Prof James Iorzua Ayatse, has urged Tiv people to be united, speak with one voice and take their destinies into their hands for positive developments.

Ayatse frowned at the attitude of some Tiv people who failed to accord respect and rally round the throne of the Tor Tiv who is the father and custodian of the culture and tradition of the Tiv.

The Tor Tiv who spoke in his Palace in Gboko when the Forum of Ayatutu Professors paid him homage pledged to continue to embark on his positive reforms that repeal some negative alien practices with the view to taking the Tiv nation to great prosperity despite the level of disparaging remarks against him.

Ayatse lauded the creation of the forum of Ayatutu professors and stressed its usefulness to Tiv Area Traditional Council as he urged members of the forum to strive hard to influence the opinion of Tiv leaders and youths.

Earlier in his address, the chairman of the forum and immediate past vice chancellor of Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, Prof Iorapuu Tor informed the Tor Tiv that the purpose for the creation of the forum was to foster the spirit of unity and mutual coexistence among Tiv professors and to champion causes that will lead to development, peace and security of Tiv people.

Iorapuu noted that the forum was concerned about the many challenges confronting Tiv people in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states especially in the areas of insecurity that caused innocent people to run to IDPs camps, illegal mining and its dire consequences.

He expressed concerns over “Divide and rule tactics perpetrated by traducers of Tiv, political violence in the land and many other issues that thwarted the development of the Tiv nation.”

He stressed the need for a structure for the resolution of rifts, conflicts and disagreement in the land to wade off foreign intervention and the unconditional removal of herdsmen from Tiv ancestral lands to make it possible for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to return to their homes.

Iorapuu called on all Tiv sons and daughters to contribute to the development of Tiv Kingdom pledging to support the reign of Orcivirigh Ayatse for rapid and greater growth of the land by spreading his noble ideals and desire for a prosperous Tiv nation.
