‎Insecurity Has Caused Limited Productions, Collaboration In Northern Movie Industry – Mc Khan

‎The Northern movie industry has also been affected by the insecurity, as it’s difficult to shoot at night and sometimes outdoors.
‎
‎Kano, Kaduna, and Jos are cities where activities in the movie industry operate.
‎
‎According to a practitioner, the movie industry has enjoyed greater peace and improved security in Kaduna under the current administration than under the previous one. However, there is still more to be done.
‎
‎Nura Mc Khan, who has been in the movie industry for two decades, weighed in on
‎the effect of insecurity in the North. Mc Khan, who featured in the movies “White Shadow,” “Ba Hujja Bace” and  “Amina”, which was shot during Ramadan, said,

‎”The issue of insecurity is still affecting the industry. Because of the security challenges, most producers are now shooting stories that don’t require village settings.
‎
‎”Some of our producers coming from the eastern part of the country were afraid of coming to the North to film. Even some of the filmmakers from neighbouring countries are no longer coming, as this situation is affecting the industry.
‎
‎”But we thank God, because the situation is being tackled by the security agencies. We appreciate them as it’s a national problem. Businesses and development thrive when peace and safety are sustained, and an enabling environment is created. We need that enabling environment holistically so that film makers can make a return on investment,” says Mc Khan
