The election was witnessed by the national president of the association, Alhaji Mohammed Kabiru and other trade union representatives in Calabar on Monday.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the elections, Kabiru who was represented by Ambassador Charles Nelson, electoral officer from the national secretariat of the association, sued for unity of members.

While expressing happiness over the peaceful conduct of the election, the national president said, “Today, even myself I was afraid that there will be opposition, but the way everything went today, there was no single opposition.

“The election was free and fair no one felt cheated. Everyone was carried along. I bring a message of unity, oneness to Cross River. That if they can come together nobody can break them in cross River State.
