Nestlé Nigeria Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable water management as a critical pillar of its long-term business resilience and national development efforts.

Speaking at the 2nd Annual Water Quality Conference 2026, in Abuja on Tuesday, the Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Lead of Nestlé Nigeria Plc, Victoria Uwadoka, emphasised that water remains fundamental not only to public health but also to economic growth and industrial sustainability.

She stressed that as a major player in the food and beverage sector, water is indispensable to its operations from agricultural sourcing to manufacturing, making responsible water management a business imperative.

The company noted that its approach goes beyond operational efficiency to include active participation in protecting shared water resources and expanding access to safe water in communities.

The firm also highlighted its focus on water regeneration initiatives, including investments in sustainable, solar-powered and data-driven solutions designed to improve water access, safety and quality, while delivering measurable volumetric water benefits.

A key highlight of the conference was the launch of the National Water Quality Handbook, developed through a public-private partnership involving Nestlé Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, and OPS WASH.

The handbook is expected to serve as a practical guide for policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders, promoting consistent standards and best practices in water quality management.

She said, “Water is fundamental to life, public health, and economic development. This is why water stewardship is central to our purpose and our long-term business resilience.

We recognise that our responsibility extends beyond efficient water use within our operations to active participation in protecting shared water resources and supporting access to safe water for communities.”

“Progress hinges on continued collaboration among all stakeholders. Nestlé Nigeria remains dedicated to working with partners to support national water and sanitation priorities and deliver measurable impact.

This collaboration illustrates the impact achievable through aligned public-private engagement and underscores the importance of partnerships in delivering sustainable outcomes.”
