Senator Said Ahmed Alkali has resigned his position as the minister of transportation to pursue gubernatorial ambition in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive.
In a statement by his special adviser on media, Umar Alkali Jibril, he said the minister officially tendered his resignation to the presidency on Tuesday and this move follows the presidential directive requiring all political appointees seeking elective offices to step down from their current roles on March 31 in line with electoral laws.
According to him, “the minister is resigning to contest for the governorship in the upcoming elections. In his letter, he expressed deep appreciation to the president for the opportunity to serve, citing significant progress made in the transportation sector during his tenure.
“The president has accepted the resignation and thanked the minister for his dedicated service to the nation.”
