President Bola Tinubu has assured victims of the recent terror incident in Jos, Plateau State, that those responsible will be found. He also issued strong directives to security chiefs and appealed for peace among community leaders.

The President gave the assurance after spending time with stakeholders and victims affected by the incident in Jos, Plateau State.

“This afternoon, I spent time with stakeholders and victims of the recent terror incident in Jos, Plateau State,” he said.

“No amount of money can bring back the dead, but the Federal Government will do our best to comfort them, walk with them and provide necessary assistance.”

In a personal remark to one of the victims, Tinubu said, “Rhoda Favour, I feel your pain but no matter what we say, we cannot bring Ayuba back.”

He, however, vowed that those behind the attack would be tracked down.

“We will find the perpetrators of this dastardly acts,” the President said.

Addressing security chiefs, Tinubu charged them to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for the killings.

“You must unearth and find the killers,” he said.

The President also called on Plateau leaders to take responsibility for restoring peace in the state.

“I need to take away the assurance of the leaders of this community that Plateau will have peace,” he stated.

Emphasising unity and collective responsibility, Tinubu added, “It is time to break the shackles of death, ignorance and hopelessness. We must break it together.”

He further reassured victims that such an incident must not recur.

“There’s nothing I can give you, whether it’s money in millions, but console you and promise you that this experience will not repeat itself,” he said.

Speaking directly to the Governor and other leaders, the President stressed the importance of justice and learning from past crises.

“Best solution is for Jos to be just. Why is the past not a source of lesson for us? I have listened to you all. Governor, you and I were elected on the promise of peace and prosperity,” Tinubu said.
