The chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, has commended the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, for his renewed commitment to reforms aimed at repositioning the initiative for greater impact.
Ugochinyere gave the commendation while receiving beneficiaries of the programme from Imo State during a courtesy visit to his office.
He said the reform efforts under Otuaro’s leadership were already boosting confidence among stakeholders and beneficiaries, particularly in the areas of education, skills acquisition, and empowerment in the Niger Delta.
According to him, the Amnesty Programme remained a vital tool for sustaining peace, stability, and development in the Niger Delta region, noting that initiatives focused on transparency, accountability, and improved welfare for beneficiaries deserve continued support.
The lawmaker assured that the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) would provide the necessary legislative backing to ensure the success of the reforms and the broader objectives of the programme.
He also urged beneficiaries to remain law-abiding and take full advantage of the opportunities offered under the scheme to enhance their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Ugochinyere reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to policies and programmes that promote peace, economic growth, and sustainable development across the country.
