As Christians across the globe commemorate Easter, Nigerian basketball promoter and founder of the Mark D’ Ball Basketball Championship, Mr. Igoche Mark, has issued a nationwide appeal for believers to anchor themselves in the profound meaning of the season.
In his personal Easter message, signed on Friday, the Mark D’ Ball Basketball Championship initiator highlighted that this period serves as a powerful reminder to Christians that suffering is not the ultimate conclusion.
“Easter is our annual reminder that suffering is not the end of the story,” he wrote. “The cross speaks of sacrifice, patience, and love that endures even at great cost; the empty tomb signifies new beginnings and an uncontainable hope. In a time burdened by hardship, that message steadies us.”
Mr. Mark further emphasised that celebration without practical application is meaningless: “It also challenges us. If we claim the grace we celebrate, we must reflect it, by forgiving more readily, serving more freely, and opting for peace over retaliation. Faith without such practice rings hollow, and our country needs believers who embody their convictions.”
He concluded with a call to action: “So may this season deepen your trust in God and your love for your neighbour. Let it inspire us to uplift others, mend what is broken, and act with courage. Easter people do not merely await change; we instigate it.”
