Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha has formally resigned her position as Minister of State for Labour and Employment in the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu.
The former minister announced her resignation on Friday in a statement posted on her verified X (formerly Twitter) account, where she described the moment as the end of a significant phase in her public service career.
She did not state specific reasons for her decision but expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve at the federal level.
Onyejeocha acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and support during her time in office, noting that her role within the administration was both an honour and a privilege.
She also appreciated the contributions of officials and staff of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, crediting them for collaborative efforts in advancing labour policies and improving workplace standards.
During her tenure, the ministry focused on initiatives aimed at protecting workers’ rights, promoting occupational safety, and expanding employment opportunities across the country.
She further extended appreciation to her constituents in Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State, whom she said remained a source of strength throughout her service.
The statement read, “I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity you gave me to serve Nigeria in your administration.
“Your trust, support, and visionary leadership have been invaluable. Working under your Renewed Hope Agenda has been an honor and privilege.”
“To the Honourable Minister, Permanent Secretary, Directors, and every member of staff, thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and partnership.”
“Serving Nigeria has been the greatest privilege of my life. As one chapter closes, another opens. I remain committed to service, to progress, and to building the Nigeria we all deserve.”
