Former Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino believes his old club must “do Arsenal a favour” in the fiercely contested Premier League title race. Arsenal currently hold a nine-point advantage over Manchester City with seven games remaining in the season.
Mikel Arteta’s side are now solely focused on the league campaign, having exited the Carabao Cup to City and the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage against Southampton. While Arsenal host Bournemouth in their next league fixture, City face a tricky away trip to Stamford Bridge. The following week will see a pivotal clash as City welcome Arsenal to the Etihad.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Cascarino opined: “I would say if you ask me today and Arsenal have to go to the Etihad and get a victory, I think City will beat them. I think eight out of ten times at the moment City would beat Arsenal.”
He further added: “I think it’s really important that Chelsea who City play next away that Chelsea get some sort of result for Arsenal. I think they need a bit more help from other teams. I don’t see Arsenal winning every game, I just don’t.”
