Interswitch Concludes Nigeria Revenue Summit, Urges Scalable, Tech-based Solutions

Interswitch, an integrated payments and digital commerce company, has concluded the Abuja edition of the Nigeria Revenue Summit, bringing to a close a series of engagements that began in Lagos.

The summit brought together stakeholders from government, regulatory agencies and the private sector to discuss strategies for strengthening revenue systems through digital transformation, improved compliance and technology-driven efficiency in public sector revenue collection.

Participants at the Abuja session emphasised the need for scalable, technology-based solutions to support national revenue objectives, while ensuring inclusivity and accountability.

Discussions also highlighted the role of data, automation and integrated payment systems in improving revenue administration across federal, state and local levels.

Speaking at the event, chief financial officer (Nigeria) at Interswitch, Chinomso Nwachukwu, said finance functions are evolving beyond traditional roles to become strategic drivers of performance in a data-driven economy. She noted that e-invoicing is a key initiative aimed at enhancing transparency and reducing revenue leakages.

Nwachukwu added that stakeholder engagement is critical to the success of the initiative, noting that platforms such as the Nigeria Revenue Summit help to facilitate dialogue and awareness.

Also speaking, project manager for E-Invoicing at the Nigeria Revenue Service, Mohammed Bawa, said Nigeria must align with global trends in tax digitisation. He described e-invoicing as a major step toward improving efficiency, transparency and compliance in the country’s tax system, and urged stakeholders to support its implementation.

The summit also featured interactive sessions where participants engaged with speakers on issues relating to e-invoicing, compliance requirements and their implications for businesses and public institutions.

In a media briefing, the managing director, Commercial Inclusion at InterswitchIn, Muyiwa Asagba, said the summit serves as a platform to drive collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders. He added that Interswitch is focused on developing digital solutions to support revenue collection, reduce leakages and improve compliance.
