The race for the Golden Boot in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season has intensified, with Godwin Obaje and Joseph Arumala jointly leading the scorers’ chart after Matchday 33.
Obaje, who features for Rangers International, and Arumala of Ikorodu City have each netted 11 goals, setting the pace in what is shaping up to be a closely contested finish to the season.
Trailing the leading duo are four players on 10 goals apiece. They include Uche Collins of Katsina United, Daddy Abdulrahman representing El-Kanemi Warriors, Victor Mbaoma of Remo Stars, and Chukwuemeka Godson Obioma from Abia Warriors.
A cluster of players follows closely with nine goals each. Among them are Oweilayefa Alex and Kayode Oke’s teammate at Bendel Insurance, Iwundu Chidozie of Rangers International, Sodiq Ibrahim of Shooting Stars, and Jonathan Mairiga from Wikki Tourists.
Further down the standings, several players remain within striking distance with eight goals. These include Igbunu Evhierehurhoma of Warri Wolves, Vincent Temitope from Plateau United, Anas Yusuf of Nasarawa United, Qamar Adegoke of Shooting Stars, and Chidera Michael representing Enyimba International.
With only a handful of matches left in the campaign, the battle for the league’s top scorer award remains wide open, as contenders continue to push for a strong finish in Nigeria’s top-flight competition.
